The right screw for your tabletop

Screws are not included in our sets because the right length depends on your tabletop. Two dimensions will help you find the right screw: the slot in the mounting plate and the thickness of your tabletop.
The mounting plate
The mounting plate of our table legs (U-, A-, V-, X-shape and rectangular frames) is 3 mm thick. The slots in it measure 20 × 10 mm.
The head: wider than 10 mm
The slot is 10 mm wide. So that the screw doesn’t slip through, the screw head must be wider than 10 mm. Alternatively, place a washer underneath.
The length: shorter than tabletop and mounting plate together
The screw goes through the 3 mm mounting plate into the tabletop. So that it doesn’t come out at the top, it must be shorter than the tabletop thickness plus 3 mm.
| Tabletop thickness | Screw shorter than |
|---|---|
| 18 mm | 21 mm |
| 20 mm | 23 mm |
| 27 mm | 30 mm |
| 30 mm | 33 mm |
| 40 mm | 43 mm |
The table shows the maximum length. Measure your tabletop before buying, as the actual thickness can differ from the stated value.
Pre-drilling
Depending on the wood, pre-drilling may be necessary. With hard wood it keeps the screws straighter and stops the wood from splitting.
Does this also apply to the shelf brackets?
No. The shelf brackets have a 4 mm mounting plate. For them, the screw must be shorter than the board thickness plus 4 mm.
